Remote Angle
I started shooting this thing with my friend at USC at the time Matt Owen. I was more of the technical side of producing, he was more into the photographic element. We were both into the merging of film and music elements. After the initial concept this shot was the one that got the ball rolling. I remember we had a photography project that we worked together that consisted of a series of no more than ten shots to tell a story using a still camera. My attempt at the project was less than satisfactory (at the time of due date), however his had a charm, was linear, complete with climax, and resolution. At this point by working with him and visualizing ideas I realized how important developing this talent was. Also it was a point that I realized that if you are ever going to invest in making a short or a feature it helps to employ someone that knows their way around a camera well ( framing, angles, composition) or study it extensively yourself before production and not rely solely on the script to carry it (film is above all a highly visual medium). If possible hire or get a DP (director of photography) for help. He challenged me to develop and understand this talent that I am thankful for to this day.
