Deus Ex Machina : Literally translates to God or the Ghost in the Machine.This plot device is most often noted when you are watching a movie and a resolution comes to the characters out of left field usually disrupting a "suspension of disbelief". If you are crafting a film or short more often than not Deus Ex Machina is a red flag in a story to try to be a little more creative. Authors sometimes use this device for a quick way to get out of a story that they have crafted and are not sure how to end. Yeah I'm talking to you ..(coughs) ...Mr. Television show. In this particular short it was a kind of play on words Deus Ex Machina / Deuce Ex Machina ( Deuce of course a colloquialism for going number two). Okay enough with the poop humor. The point is, there are good and bad ways to use it; in this project in particular there was no suspension of disbelief because the whole thing was ridiculous so it worked.
