TJPARSONS LINKS
A BRIEF MESSAGE FOR THE LINKS THAT FOLLOW
Most modern web pages have done away with link pages in their format. For the most part, these are things of the past. I want to present to you a page of links that I believe you may find interesting and sometimes perhaps fulfilling in some respect. All links below are ones that I personally endorse and are congruent with themes contained on this page and some aligned personal beliefs, and pleasures.
Have fun, and I hope you find some of the stuff here as entertaining and or helpful as I did when I first found it.
Also if you have some film festivals you'd like me to include, drop me a line, I've love to add them.
Thanks,
TJPARSONS

- Kickstarter is a way for producers and filmmakers to find financing for their films or projects. The concept is fairly simple: you post a profile about your project - (a pitch) including what stage its in- then tell the financiers what you wish to provide them for their contribution if they make one. Financing is one of the hardest things to secure, so this is a good resource - a breath of fresh air for any producer.

Not only are these guys heroes from my childhood, as well as several others that grew up seeing Greg Nicotero and friends at work. They are the kings of the special effects world. If you want to know how to do top notch stuff you could learn a lesson or two on. This a great website to look at for reference in doing your own independent special effects, and when you move up the chain employ these guys to make your imagination a reality.

- Muscle wires.A muscle wire is a wire that can be used for cybernetic art or any project that wishes to do away with pesky or bulky servo motors. Muscle wires are exactly that: wires that flex when controlled current is passed through them. You may perhaps consider muscle wires if you plan on doing anima-tronics in your film.

"Morphyre is an animated music-reactive visualization system with thousands of unique 3D scenes" - morphyre.com. I found Morphyre by accident one night, downloaded the free version, used it - and not even an hour later bought the full "personal" version off this very site. This is a great program that can be used in mediaplayer. I recently found out how to get it to work across a two monitor setup. Practical applications for this product: It can be used for entertainment before movies, and between films setting up in film festivals. It often works with chromadepth as well. The free version consists of a visualization that changes every few seconds where as the "personal" version at a mere $4.40 features full control of when the visualizations change, grouping visualizations in similar themes, ability to change to the visualization you like and keep it on screen for the entire song, and as always support and updates. This is possibly one the best values on the Internet ..... period - not to mention all the hours of mood enhancement you will experience.
MPAA - Totally Legal Streaming Movies and TV Show

- Usually people roll their eyes when ever you mention the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America). But I have to tell you that every time a person comes up to me and says they downloaded a movie or copied one from someone else it starts to annoy me. Their argument is that stars get paid too much money .. blah blah blah. I then remind them of the sometimes several hundred people involved in the making of a feature (don't take my word for it actually read the end credits sometime) from grips to craft service, from script supervisors to directors of photography. Not everyone that works in television and film earn millions of dollars. Some earn just a few hundred dollars a week. So when you pirate or watch movies illegally you are ripping them and their families off too. Think about that one. So you may ask: "where can I find legal downloads?" or "where can I watch TV or programs for free?" This page is a start. This might even be a good resource to figure out what to do with programs or shorts after you produce them.

- A fine resource to help filmmakers with their projects by allowing them to post want ads for scores and music that artists and composers compete for inclusion in the project . You post your needs, a description and even upload similar examples to explain the tone of the project - then post amount you are willing to pay for the composition - and artists make original pieces that you can select purchase for your production. A fine resource for anyone that is in need of well made professional, original compositions.
