Every media artist needs to indulge in video games every once in a while. Games have become quite cinematic over the years, and ID's new project and recent release "RAGE" is no exception. I enjoy usually about 2 good games a year, due to a crazy production schedules and workload, but it always helps to have a game in the wings to blow off some "Steam" with; pun intended. Back in in my youth I was a huge fan of ID software. I felt the fear from interstellar demons of DOOM, I cranked up the decibels and shook the neighbors above in my apartment with QUAKE, and last but not least I braved the blue labyrinth of WOLFENSTEIN...

GENRE: Foreign
RUNNING TIME: 113 Minutes
RATING: R
FORMAT: BlueRay Disc
SCRIPT: Alejandro Jodorowsky
DIRECTOR: Alejandro Jodorowsky
STARRING:Alejandro Jodorowsky, Horatio Salinas, Zamira Saunders With all the news lately about the volcano in Chile I was reminded of the most unusual Chilean born directors that has ever graced the silver screen, dvd, or Blue-ray for that matter. I am talking about Alejandro Jodorowsky. As the the volcanic ashes and lightning make for some otherworldly photos in recent articles, Jodorowsy very similarly mastered some insanely impressive images, perhaps unparalleled to anything- really.
For anyone that enjoys a dive into some heavy surrealism it separates them in from the boys, so to speak... Read More

Howard the Duck

Category: 80's Sci-fi Comedy
TITLE: Howard the Duck
DATE: 1986
GENRE: 80's Sci-fi Comedy
RUNNING TIME: 110 min
RATING: PG
FORMAT: DVD
SCRIPT: Willard Huyck, Gloria Katz, Steve Gerber
DIRECTOR: Willard Huyck
STARRING: Lea Thompson, Jeffery Jones, Tim Robbins, Ed Gale, Chip Zien, Holly Robinson
A Holly Robinson pre-21 Jump Street? Science fiction and enough duck puns to fill a soundstage from top to bottom? Howard the Duck has it all. Howard the Duck seems to be the bastard son of LucasFilm - right from the start a different kind of story. Not for everyone , though well it should be - I mean who can't enjoy campy 80's sci-fi in just the right doses?
Based on Steve Gerber's comic, this commonly misunderstood story is about a humanoid "duck" that was sucked through a wormhole from his egg-shaped home planet to the middle of Cleaveland, Ohio on our Earth...

RUNNING TIME:
RATING: Not Rated
FORMAT: Boxset DVD
SCRIPT: Paul Feig
DIRECTOR: Various
STARRING: Linda Cardellini, Busy Phillips, John Francis Daley, James Franco, Samm Levine, Seth Rogen, Joe Flaherty
Produced for NBC this cult gem had a very short run between 1999 and 2000 but that did not impair it from having a large and loyal cult following that pressured a DVD release for fans to sink their teeth into. Many times a good TV show that does not apply to an insanely wide demographic gets pulled way before its time and I believe this was another one of those instances. This however, did not keep it from getting noticed in Time Magazine and Entertainment Weekly that put it on a couple of high ranking lists ... Read More

If you reading this because you have a great concern about why the watermelon was in this movie, and you never got a full grasp of why it was there keep reading- the mystery will unfold by the end of this article.
Buckaroo Banzai is quite unlike any hero I've ever seen in all my years of enjoying films. Part Neurosurgeon, part Rock Star, part Superhero, part Physicist and Samurai with his own fanbase and entourage (in movie world ) complete with widely circulated comic book (in movie world as well) ; Buckaroo far exceeds the profile of a modern renaissance man better than any sci-movie from the 80's could possibly portray...
